Along with Basic Latin character map, Latin Extended character map (for special accented characters) and Punctuation Marks are also included in the Blood Crow Expanded Font by Iconian. The font designer offers 11 versions of the font (above you can see only 4 samples), varying in style from regular to condensed and to shadow. Besides, this font is made really-really professional. Not much dirty, but with definite eroded elements in each letter, Blood Crow is a must have font for every designer working with creative projects in the alternative style. Simply one of the grungiest free fonts I’ve ever seen. The Gothical font contains Basic Latin character map, though it is a bit pity the designer did not include capital letters in it. The font is pretty reserved, but due to the eroded and distorted background in many characters, this free font looks pretty grungy. So, never mind that this font is called “gothical” instead of “gothic”, because denial of basic rules is one of the grunge principles. Nevermind was one of the albums of the Seattle grunge group Nirvana – an icon of grunge music. Inspired by grunge music with its denial of social standards and clichés, apathy, and the strong desire for freedom at the same time, many font designers did their best to transpose grunge feel from music into graphics, and below is just a small, yet vivid part of grunge fonts, which are available for free download online. Grunge had a great influence on people’s minds and creative design trends, and though the glorious times of grunge have already faded away, its traces can still be found in many aspects of modern life and culture. The cover for Barenaked Ladies's 1998 Stunt uses a bolder version of Template Gothic.Originally appeared as the subgenre of alternative rock music, grunge had turned into a whole culture or, to be more exact, into a subculture during the 80th-90th of the previous century. The cover for Radiohead's debut album Pablo Honey uses a slightly distorted form of Template Gothic. Along with twenty-two other fonts, it was displayed in MoMA's Standard Deviations exhibition from March 2011 to January 2012. Template Gothic was one of the first digital typefaces acquired by the Museum of Modern Art for its Architecture and Design Collection in 2011. It was also used in the logo for Top of the Pops from 1995 to 1998. It was also featured prominently in Issue #19 of Emigre, designed by Rudy VanderLans, in the cover art as well as inside the magazine. It was also notably used on the posters and advertising material of other films such as 1994's Reality Bites and 1998's The Negotiator. The font was used in posters and promotional material of the 1993 popular coming-of-age comedy film Dazed and Confused. The resulting Template Gothic typeface reflects my interest in type that is not perfect type that reflects more truly the imperfect language of an imperfect world, inhabited by imperfect beings" Usage I was inspired to design a face that looked as if it had suffered the distortive ravages of photomechanical reproduction. I asked them if I could have the old sign, and they gladly handed it over to me. A few months ago, it was replaced with a plastic sign painted by a skilled sign painter. It had obviously been done by someone who was totally naive. The sign was done with lettering templates and it was exquisite. " There was a sign in the laundromat where I do my laundry. In an interview with Emigre, Deck describes how he received the inspiration for Template Gothic from a sign in his local laundromat, which had been lettered by hand with a template. Deck chose to eschew the predictability and uniformity of typefaces such as Helvetica and Univers, paying more attention to organic shapes and natural variations in order to create a more imperfect look. Deck designed Template Gothic while studying at California Institute of the Arts under artist and graphic designer Edward Fella.
